“I can’t say enough about Dunbar Community Center. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the location on beautiful Dunbar Street is a gem. The spacious, well-lit dance studio is my personal favorite with its full-length mirrors and large windows. In the spring, you can even enjoy the cherry blossoms outside the windows, making it a truly refreshing and beautiful place to dance. I absolutely love the dance studio here.”
I have taken a pottery class at the Dunbar Community Centre and use the gym regularly. The pottery space is nice and the classes were fun.
The gym is adequately equipped and has two sets of dumbbells which means the weights you need are typically available. I typically exercise around 9am and the gym is not too crowded; I rarely have trouble getting the equipment that I need. The space is clean and bright.
The staff at the community centre is always friendly and helpful.
I go to the drop in basketball whenever I can, very fun and helpful staff, but there are some problems. This isn’t the community centre’s fault but they really need more tuning to update the facilities. The basketball gym is generally okay, but the floor needs re-instillation. There are so many dead-spots on the court and also the two mini hoops on the left side are just useless. They should also move the seating area to that side so that we can warmup on the right side hoops that are normal height. The only other problem is how busy the reservation schedules are. I’ll just pray every time I pull up that there isn’t another one of those seniors pickle ball classes that only take up half the gym but still don’t allow you to use it. It is free on Fridays which is a bonus but aside from that it is a mid community centre.
An incident occurred a few weeks ago, about a specific gym-goer and a complaint was made and the staff was incredible at responding and handling the situation. Roy especially was just so good and I hope this staff gets more recognition cos of how great they are towards the people and keeping the community feel safe and respected !
Brought child here for a sport ball birthday party and community program. Several rooms upstairs. Facility is clean. Main floor has several multipurpose rooms along with a gym and fitness room. Main parking lot is small. Secondary parking lot a little walk away.
